About My School Closures

My school closures is a service provided by Primary Technology. We host the service for free and use our School Email servers to send out email updates. For SMS alerts we rely on funds raised with the on-page advertising and from kind donations from users.

How it works...

Announce a Closure

Anyone can register a school closure on the site and we publish the information via Email and our API extensions. We only verify the closure once someone* has answered a call to the school's official phone number. Once the closure is verified, we send SMS alerts to all registered users.

* the phone at school is called to ensure the information we receive is valid.

Notifications

We notify parents and staff via email as soon as a school closure alert is registered.

API and Automated Distribution of School Closure Alerts

School Closure status will be available via API and RSS feeds automatically update. Any sites publishing the data will be automatically updated.

Verification

Once a school closure has been verified, we contact parents via sms and email with an update.
